H rings in today.

My neighbor, who knows everything, certainly more than I do, who is deaf as a post and talks all the time, came over and supervised the piston removal, honing and installing the new rings. Done. Then on to paint the head and get it back on....done. Water pump and various linkages installed and hooked up.

All that remains to be done is to install the rocker arms and the pan. When I looked at the oil pickup on the water pump, it was one flake of crud from being completely obstructed...from now on, when I get an old unit, I will drop the pan and look as a matter of course before I knock the bearings out.

I an anxious to hear this run..but tomorrow.

I have had grease in my hair, face, hands arms and yes, i had to go pee and there too.

I laid the old oil rings down beside the new ones...the old ones had at least 50% wear. it is a wonder that I did not suck more oil.

Tom, Thats what makes the old tractor hobby so much (fun?). You can do all the things you wanted to do when you were a kid, but Mom wouldn't let you.
At least your in the sunny South. I'm up here in the Northern end of the Okefenokee, in Indiana, and I don't even have a shop to work in. I have a old 41 H setting out side that I started changing the engine in two weeks ago, and when it isn't raining, its snowing. My wife doesn't care for me working on the dining table on old tractor parts, but I just wait until she isn't here. ken

I forgot to add one little detail that I discovered. I'm replacing the engine in a 41 H with the engine from a 51H, and when I started to put the front end back on the front motor mounts don't fit. It seem as if the rascals changed the mounts sometime between 41 and 51. I thought i'd checked this before, but I also forgot about CRS.
Now I need to take the frame rails off again (mess up my new paint) and slot the holes. ken
