I have a '46 Model H with an H4 mag. It will start right away but after it runs and I shut it off, It won't restart. Go out a few days later and same thing. Any suggestions where to start. Is this something with the mag that once its warmed up it has an issue.

I had the same problem with my M,after much troubleshooting I finally installed a spare mag.The tractor ran and started perfectly. I suspect the coil was bad and it would provide spark when cold but not when hot. Maybe magman could give us his thoughts.

do a compression test on the engine ive seen theis alot in engines when the compression gets to low after you start the engines things expand causing a loss in compression when everything coolsdown you can start it again then u shut it off and bam wont start again

Keep a good sparkplug handy, and when it wont start pull one of the plug wires and use your handy plug to check for sparks when you crank it over. If you have fire at the plug, this will rule out a fuel problem. ken

I ment to say this will indicate a fuel problem if you have fire at the plug. (its hard to do this internet stuff with a 2 year old Great Grandson setting on you lap :-) )
