My Super A's original dealer?

I bought my SA (#250556) from a small used equipment dealer in Abilene, KS in 1980. Of course he's long gone now. At the time I had no interest in the tractor's history, and I don't even remember if he knew anything about where it came from, or who owned it before. Is there any way to tell what dealer originally sold this tractor when it was new? I wonder if anyone kept the old IH shipping or warranty records.

Just an idea.

Abilene isnt that big of a town and I bet there was probly only one dealer in the area back then. You might go to the historical society in the county and see if there are any ads for Farmall dealers. I dont think that tractor probly made if far from where it was bought. Probly as close as your going to get on an original owner.

When my father bought my Super A (#264761) it was from a Mr. Holland in Myrtle Springs, Texas. Back then Myrtle Springs was a "big town" but then the rail road passed the town and it died. Mr. Holland was the only dealer around then and he had the market cornered.

Talk to some old timers there and I bet they can fill you in on some things. It might be interesting if nothing else.

At one time it was thought that all of that info had been destroyed or lost. I have heard lately that some of that info was NOT lost, but I have no idea of what has been found. Click on the link and maybe you can do some research.

The IHC archives have been on my mind before, but...Rusty, that sounds like a good thing to do some rainy January day next week-beins" we don"t seem to have any snow in the forecast. 40 F is forcast for next Friday-"What has happened to this Wisconsin winter?? The collection looks to be very interesting and I know a great bar off State Street-Plaza Pub-Plaza burgers are GREAT. And so is Babcock ice cream. All within a mile walk of State Street. Start out the trip w/a stop at Papa"s Donuts in Richland Center, stretch the legs and get rid of some coffee in Spring Green and then Madtown-the land of the perpetually offended, 65 square miles surrounded by reality. A stop at the State 4-H Office to visit my friend w/Papa"s goodies to share. What a day trip! That"s it, I"m going!!
