My bother-in-law sez that the original muffler on a H had a smaller diameter exhaust pipe coming out of the muffler on an H compared to a M. Rest of the muffler the same, just smaller exit pipe.

Has he been sitting on his M too long breathing in the fumes, or do I have to acknowledge that he is right again.

Thx SKK

The only place I have found with the correct mufflers is Marks Parts. I have one on a H and it is smaller on the top and I have one on a SM that I just finished and it has just the right little ring when you open it up .

Your brother-in-law is correct. Mufflers are the same, except for the smaller diameter exit pipe on the H. That smaller pipe made the H much quieter. You will probably not find one at your local Case-IH dealer.

When I go to get a muffler for a H or a M. They are different part numbers and I think the H's muffler is smaller then the M's.
