Jerry: Are you talking about the upper or lower shaft in the final drive?

I just did mine, if it"s the seal on the final drive side, here is what I did. I used a puller to remove the brake drum, then removed the coverplate, on the opposite side of the final drive. This will allow you to pull out the top gear and shaft out, as an assembly. Then, from the outside you can tap the old seal out, and replace it.

Jerry: I have never done this job, but I have asked how it is done. Here is what I was told: Take off the rim and wheel. Remove the bearing retainer bolts. Remove the seed gear drive cover from the back side of the final drive. Remove the nut under the cover. Take a hard block of wood, maybe 2 x 2 inches in size. Using it as a drift, whack the shaft out the final drive toward the wheel side. Don't forget to remove the bolts holding the bearing retainer first! I am sure others on this forum have actually done this job. If I have said anything wrong, hopefully they will correct me. mike

The oil seal? Has to be kind of pried out with a small bar or large screw driver. Put the seal in and hold a block of wood up there and tap it in with a hammer, its a tight fit.
