Also look at the updated versions of that tractor like the B275,414,434,444,354, and 384, they were all Bradford built tractors.

The 300-350 series tractor would be the oldest, most common, most value for buck, The tractors below have no live PTO unless you get a SMTA (and that will set you back 2 to 3 times the sum you mention. They are under priced and great tractors. I don't think there is a problem with the B series you describe except the modifications needed to pull would be seat of the pants due to few pullers contributing to the knowledge base. If you like it buy it. JimN

The B250 is a fairly rare tractor in the states. You could have some trouble getting parts for it. It's a utility tractor configuration that usually doesn't pull to well...I think you'd be disappointed at the fairs. As a first tractor, I would recommend you keep looking and get a Farmall H or M, or even a C. They are easy to work on, get parts for, and can be set up to pull for fun really easily. I have an H and a Super M that I work on the farm and pull at the fairs...I never win anything, but it's fun showing up.

Nat2 is right...live pto and hyd first showed up on the 300 and 400...and live pto is nice if you do alot of mowing where you gotta back up or change gears. I just get the Super M out in the field and go...

No. The Super MTA was the first to have live PTO. In an "H-size" tractor, the 300 was the first.
