I am restoring a 1952 Super AV. Does the exhaust manifold get painted and if so, what color and what kind of paint? Thank you.

When I did mine I used a high heat flat black spray can paint and it sure looks good. In fact it looked so good I painted the carb with the same paint.

Like everyonen said they were probly red. But I just dont like that burned off look.

If you want it to be original just paint it along with the rest of the tractor where it gets hot it will burn off.

I believe that they were originally painted red with the rest of the tractor and a good deal of that would burn off. I'm not an expert on this by any means and I'm sure we'll hear if I'm wrong.

According to Guy Fay and Andy Kraushaar's book on the Letter Series, the manifolds were indeed painted red. Some photos have the pipe from the manifold to the muffler painted red as well, others not.
