I seem to posting on here rather a lot lately, my thanks to everyone for the good advice. I've started using a cover for the radiator on my Super C to try and help it warm up faster/better. I've yet to see the temperature gauge move and I'm unsure if it even works. What indicators might I get (presuming the gauge isn't working) that would let me know I'm getting it too warm and need to expose some of the radiator? Thanks again, tractorsam

Watch the oil pressure gauge....at low RPM when the oil gets hot it thins out and PSI would drop. Unless Your working Your tractor Really long & hard I doubt You can overheat it just pushing a little snow.

If the temp doesn't come up, the thermostat retaining "wire" has possibly slipped out of its groove & let the thermostat move up in the outlet pipe. Happened to ours a time or two.

these cooling systems are pretty good. Why dont you use a cooking therm to see what the coolants temp is when warm. You could being verry careful take the sender out and put in a cup of hot water and check the guage along with a thermomenter then you would inow if the guage is ok. Thats what i do. But the simple test is a therm in the rad when it is warm.
