I am repainting all my old implements for my farmalls. Was wondering if anyone knows where I can find something that shows the original paint schemes. I would also like to know any decals can be had for them. Thanks a lot. Berry

The Wisconsin Historical Society inherited all the old IHC archives.
I have talked to the Wisconsin Historical Society people (live 45 mi. away so drove to them) on their info. I found that NAPA #53 3736A is a close match for the old "Harvester Blue".
The "Harvester Cream" records used for wheels on implements have been lost; I found that the paint used on Farmall 460 & 560 grills is a very close match, IH #935 White, it's more of a cream than white. Today's Farmall Red #1150 is about as good as you can do for Harvester Red. Black is black; I used gloss black on my plow hitch. Hope this helps you.

Oops, I typed in wrong number for IH Red. I'ts not #1150...it is #2150. Hate when that happens!
Darn bifocals.

I think that would depend on what kind of implement and the date the implement was made.

Usually things were red or white or blue or black depending on what they were and when they are made. During the war years some colors were hard to get and the paint colors depended on what was available. Some times the cultivators/sweeps were laquored with clear. I also read where they were painting "Texas Sweeps" an Orange color and after a vote were allowed to continue with the orange. Also saw where the sweeps were a gold color.

Post some more on what your painting.

Link below will carry you to the Wisconsin IH Site. Lots of info if you care to research your implement.

1949 model C implements 2x12 2 bottom plow, 7 foot mowing machine,2 row front mount planter, 2 row cultivators,no 8 3bottom plow,4 row cultivator for M and to much to list. I have used this stuff for 30 years in some cases,am no longer farming much thought it would look nice at tractor shows in its former glory. Not enough implements at shows, they were part of farming also. Thanks for help.Berry

Berry,

Thats a lot of stuff to cover...! You need to do lots of research if you want to be accurate. I dont think you will ever find everything out for certain and sometimes you will just have to go with whats your best guess.

I know more about Super A's and have restored a 1948 model that was my fathers. I added the cultivators and during that process had to do some research on the colors. Some/most people show the lift arms as red but on mine I could see they were blue. On the gang members they are black or blue. On the sweeps they were usually black. I say "usually" because I have seen where they were also just laquored, painted orange (Texas Sweeps), and also painted gold.

By 1949 I think most of the colors had gone back to the origional pre-war colors.

The paint chart (link below) might be of use as well.
