Why is it that I don't see any reference to the W-9 and never have seen one for sale? Have these all disappeared?

There were around 67,000 W-9 and WD-9 made. Compare this to the 450,000 H's and you will see why they don't show up as often.

Midwest wheat farming country is the best place to find them. I know of 5 within 10 miles of my farm in ND (one of them is mine).

I agree, there out there. They were considered most appropriate for work on large landscapes typical of the western states. This style of tractor is compact for its power, and turns hard in close quarters. Many operators feel it fits them poorly compared to an M or H in terms of pedal location and seat position. They are also too heavy to drag around casually with a modest trailer and tow vehicle. Their appeal to hobby farms is basically nonexistant. My brother has a nice I-9. I hope this sheds light to a degree. JimN

I see them frequently on this site listed for sale. Take a look in photo ads for ad no. 159125 which was posted on 1/1/2007. I looked in Guy Fay's Tractor Data Book and saw they were made in significant quantities for lots of them to be around. There's big so should be easy to spot. Hope this helps, Hal.
