There is a pair of 39 IH light lenses on EBay, that the fellow sez are the straight not checkered pattern?

Is this another of those little things you forgot to tell me about? Why on earth did they even change the pattern? When did they change it?

Also what was the original difference in the switch box between the H & M before they standardized them in late 40 or early 41?

I may never get this darn tractor together?

I believe the very early switch boxes had a lever for operating the light switch. This was replaced by the round knob. Without digging out my parts book, I can't tell you at what serial number the change occurred.

I have seen at least 3 different patterns of lenses. One has the verticle flutes on the outside and the horizontal flutes on the inside, and the second is vice-versa. I have also seen them smooth on the outside with both horizontal and verticle flutes (checker pattern) on the inside. I don't know when they used which types. I think my fairly orginal 39 H has the horizontal flutes on the outside, but the lights may have been added after it left the factory.

I believe that the straight fluted lens was originally used in the rear work light, and the front headlights used the checkered pattern.

As far as I know, there is no difference in the switch boxes. They are all the same until the supers came out with the fuse holder that was accessible without taking the box cover off.

Guy mentioned the difference in his book, but so far I haven't found anything different. Thx
