I have removed the 6 bolts on the clutch housing where it bolts up to the transmission. There are two studs there to but i cant get them out. I have tried running a nut up on the threads hoping that it would pull out like the ones that hold the frame rails on b theese things wont budge. Is that what is holding the case fom caming apart at the tans??

Did you get the bolts on the top of the bell housing? There is one hidden inside that you have to get to through the starter hole.

I've had good luck running a nut on those dowel pins, put a vise grip on and pound them out. Or you can get them to spin with an impact wrench to loosen them up as well.

Steve unless I'm mistaken its where center housing bolts to transmission he's posting about. 4 bolts and 2 dowel pins up inside housing and 2 bolts on outside.

Those are alignment dowel pins and the pins are tight enough there sometimes to hold center housing to transmission. Most times if threads are not batered up you can tighten nuts down enough that they start pulling out or spinning in hole and they can be worked out. Or if housing is in a position to do it, use a block of wood and big hammer on each side at front of housing until you get a crack between housings. Warning housings will break if hammered to much. Can't remember for sure on a H, but on a M those holes go all the way in to transmission and oil will leak at the pins if there not tight enough. So sometimes you find sealer on them which makes them tighter.

I usually run the nut on the pin just till it moves out a tad, and then back the nut off enough to get a pry bar between the nut and the engine plate and pry the pin out, or cut notches in a few flat washers and keep tightening the nut till they fall out. Just like the fellas said,, make sure the bolt inside the starter housing is removed. Its hidden in there! chad

Chad I'm sure not with the majority here. I don't think he's unbolting at rear of engine. Hope he posts back and clears it up.

Are you talking about the torque tube? The transmission is clear back in the rear end.

Not clear where you're trying to split; front of the tube or the rear?

Alan

I am seeing your chains...you are ready to go!

My question is, the lever for the pump, what is the hole for that is about half way down the lever? Mine does not have this...was this add on? What is it for?

The hole under the Lift-All control lever is threaded; that is where we would bolt the lifting mechanism the hydraulic cylinder needed for the #27 mower.

Tom, I think the extra hole on the lever is for remote hydraulic control like on a cotton picker or something like that. Some of my M's have that, and some don't. I do know one of my M's was under a cotton picker, because I scraped the thing off of it.

Just an access hole. Thought they all had it.
