I bought a 424 all repainted. I was wondering if they have some sort of breather on the rear end. I took out the fill plug on the rear end and a big force of air came out so i dont no if they repainted over a breather or not. Thanks brad

I have a 424 diesel that I took a look at over the weekend. All I can find is a 3/4 " fill plug. Don't know how it breaths. (but surely it does). If you find anything else, please repost. Thanks !

Ler, are you talking about the hydraulic system fill plug at the top of the "rockshaft housing", at the right rear?

I have the TC-107 424 partsbook here at hand, and it shows a standard 3/4" SQ-HD pipe plug, part # 103 869 is used there. NO vent.

Doesn't make much sense, does it?

On my 424, a PO screwed a 2" long 3/4" pipe nipple into the hole, then screwed a plug with a floppy vent cap into a coupling at the top of the nipple.

The vent DOES slobber a little once in a while, collecting a little dirt.

I had a 354 a while back, same hydraulics. I think it had a breather hole in the plug to fill the reservoir.
