I have this IHC Little giant 3-16 plow, and it has the old blue paint on the top of the blade frame,s, like it was there over 60 yrs ago,
I know that these were painted red on the frame,s ,
but I saw another one like this too,
and it really stymied me?
Did some of the IHC plow,s come in this color?
Iknow that some older guy wouldnt repaint the thing in blue over red,
It has the P&O stamp all over it,
this one is a steel wheeled one with the bigger wheel on left side with the cam on axle,
I think it,s maybe a 36, or 37,?
Not know for sure?

The red pigment shortage was immediately after WWII. Much of the situation and what IH did with color choices because of it is documented in the paint decisions, which are on the WHS web site. I don't remember what specifically was done with colors of the #8 plow, but you should be able to find it there. At that time, wheels were painted cream, not white.

for some reason a recall reading on the forum that there was an ih red paint shortage and they painted some of the implements blue. Now maybe this was some sort of joke I didnt get, but it's been a long time since I remember seeing it.

Hi Jay,
Yea Im the same way on this,
I was looking at other one,s too, and i saw the same thing,
I bet Jay that it,s not really that well known that there was a shortage of Red back then and they did do alot of the stuff in that blue,
It didnt make any sense to me that an older plow like this would be repainted for some gimmick or something, like a little kid would repaint something cause he didnt like the color in the 1st place,
I mean if that,s the case ,
then Ill redo it it that blue and Itll look even better than IHC Red I think,
I was holding off Jay painting it, cause I was thinking the same thing,,,,, ,,?
Red all over ,,,,, ?
well....? how about blue for once and black yoke?
and ohhh yeaaa,,,
Jay this thing has got straw colored wheel,s too,
You know, like Massey Harris Tractor wheel,s,
They arnt faded white like ive seen alot out there,
But a yellow color,
I rubbed some of that liquid compound on them from the Wax Shop, and they were still yellow, not white,
So,,, That proved my point,
Ive been thinking About this for month,s,
And every time I go out to look at this thing I get the same feeling,
I look for some red paint somewhere on it,
Underneath, or in crevices somewhere that the weather didnt get to it in the last 60 yrs,
Jay, Ive looked at different one,s on this page too ,
But to no avail,
I mean If it,s supposed to be blue,
that I dont wanna do it in red and then have it be too late,
If there,s an article of that paint thing somewhere?
Id like to see it,
Any Help will be welcome Jay,
Thank,s Alot,
Kirk,
