My uncle has a 400 Farmall. He is thinking of getting the 3pt arms that snap into the 2point system. He then wants to get a IH 710 or 720 3-16's auto reset plow. Has anyone else done this with a 400 and does that setup work properly for plowing say 25 acres per year maximum?? He used my pull type melroe auto reset 3-16's but the pull type auto resets are hard to come by in central MN. Any thoughts would be aprpeciated.
Thanks - Lance

THe prime issue with the conversion parts is the location of the forward end of the top link adapter. It must be in a position that is low enough (like an original tractor 3pt) so that the geometry does not "extend" the effective length of the top link when raised. Go for it, the adapter will be used for other implements as well. JimN

Lance, I have not tried this with a 400, but have used 3x14 three point plow on my 350. It worked fair but the plow when adjusted to plow properly did not raise level and the back plow bottom would drag on the ground. Maybe a different top link would have helped this I dont know. I went to a fasthitch plow designed for the tractor and it worked a lot better.

Lance;

My 706 worked good either way. My plow(4-16 semi mount)worked just fine with the fast hitch. I had a cultivator and other equip with three point and they worked fine too. I had the 3pt-2pt adapters. Keep warm.
