Okay, saw a 886 today, just wanted to ask you IH experts what to check out on this old girl. Shifter seemed to operate good, did not hear any odd noises in the tranny or hyd. It and a red oil? light that would come on when the clutch was depressed. Did not have any luck getting the PTO to engage, might be something I don't know about...The coolant pressure light was on, freon? Hopefully will talk to the owner on Monday.
Thanks,
Matthew

I had an early 886 and I really liked it. The biggest problem I had is with the shifter which is common to the 86 series tractor. Make sure you check on the Torque and the clutch. The coolant light may come on if the radiator level is low.

Okay, I will look into the rust on the lever, It seemed to move fine though. The TA worked fine in all gears & the shifter was fine. I did not give the clutch much of a work out on the first test drive. It does have rust at the bottom of the doors, seems like a common problem among these...
