Swithced my 51 M over to 12 volt system using Bob Melvins single wire alternator set up. I have a 12 volt coil with internal resistorI just picked up. Do I still need the external resistor I had put on or do I just bypass it? Can it be left on with no harm?? Also On the negative wire from coil does it go onto the post on the outside of the distributor with the nut, or is it just grounded onto the screw on the side of the distributor. Can't remember where the heck it went when I took it off. Thanks for any info.

Do not Use the resistor (I would take it off to reduce the clutter). Using it will result in bad spark. The neg wire goes to the distributor post with the nut and insulated washer (which connects to the points and condenser inside. (be sure to keep it insulated at the hole through the distributor.
