After I worked on the brakes on the M today I Noticed a drip or two of oil comong out of the motor of the power steering. It wasn't leaking a few weeks back last time I ran it. A month or so ago I had changed out the fluid when I unhooked the remote control valve and put in hydrailic fluid. Was that a no no? The hydraulic system on my M doesn't use the belly pump, it is all ran off the PS pump. I am a bit puzzled why they would have it hooked up that way outside of the belly pump might be bad. But I need to know what kind of fluid went in the power steering originally as it might eat the seals. Any one have any ideas?

Have ran a lot of hours with Behlen PS on 400 and the steering motor was fed Hy Tran or equivelant have run even more hours with Behlen PS on M and SM and we used motor oil in these and both oils worked fine.

Bob, I found the book. All it says about fluid is to use IH touch control fluid which isn't even available. I would think any non detergent oil from 30 down would work. I don't have a scanner or any way of copying the book, but could take pics of the schematics and email them to you if you like. I have done this before and it works OK.If you need it just email me and I will send the pics back to you.

Bob, I think I have a Blue Ribbon service manual for it somewhere, but will have to look through my junk to see.
