Guys and Gals,

Watch out for JD Hopson from Cookeville, TN. I bought a Carter Carb for my Super C from him and he kept the money and sent me nothing. It did not even phase him to rob me of 50 bucks.

Here is the message he sent me just before I sent the check.....

well, that was fast, it is a carter, and yes, I'll take a check.

JD Hopson
3465 WJ Robinson Road
Cookeville, TN 38506

He offered to sell me a bunch of other parts. I figured I would wait to see how the first transaction went before I sent more money.

Time passes with no carb coming.

After I told him I would go to the website and name him in it as a scam artist, he said he would return the money.

Now I get an error message saying the message is delayed and not being opened.

Word of Warning:

Do not purchase parts from JD Hopson of Cookeville, TN.

His email address is/was:

catstails@frontiernet.net

He has not answered my emails since he said he would return the money.

Here is the message I get:

THIS IS A WARNING MESSAGE ONLY.

YOU DO NOT NEED TO RESEND YOUR MESSAGE.

Delivery to the following recipients has been delayed.

catstails@frontiernet.net

Buyer beware!

My loss is your gain....Do not buy parts from JD Hopson. He will rip you off without guilt or shame.

Well add my name to the list of people scammed by this Jerk. I sent him $300 for a Case "300" hood, and i haven't heard from him since.

A good old fashion hanging would do him good.

This low life SOB got a bunch of us on another board too. I'm out $190 and many others were taken for much more. JD has promised to return peoples money but most of us haven't seen a dime. I don't think he ever had any parts to sell. He's just a thief and liar. Like Gordo said contact Don Barkley. I also filed a complaint with the Tennessee State Consumer Affairs office who responded that they were pursuing a settlement with him. You can locate them on the State of Tenn. web site and they have an on-line complaint form.

Send this to 'dbarkley@carolina.rr.com ' He also got scammed along with many others. He is putting a group together to prosecute him Google 'j d hopson cookeville' and you will get more info. One guy reported that when he told JD that he was going to file a report with the local postal inspector that he got a refund overnight. Lets all flood this guys email box with trash and he'll have trouble getting his mail

More importantly, the money was sent through the US Mail With this many people defrauded by him the postal inspectors may get interested in pursuing him.

Sorry to hear you got ripped off by this low life.
Just curious . . . how did you come to purchase from this guy? Does he advertise someplace? Would help me learn from your experience and know what to avoid in the future.

I put an ad on the YTmag site, looking for a Carburetor. He sends me an email telling me he has one ready to go. He also gives me a list of all of the other parts he has and the price. I wonder if he had any of it at all in the first place. I am thinking he never had the carb in the first place. After I confronted him about it, he said he would return my money. Where did the carb go he was going to sell me? Or did he even have it to begin with?

I was always ready to give the other guy the benefit of the doubt but now I will not do it anymore...and I still need a carburetor for my Super C.

Bummer!

Summer is fying by.

If you ever get your money back, put it towards a new Zenith. The Carter on my Super C was always to rich, might of been ok on a working tractor but would foul a plug now and then just puttin around. It could sit in the shed for a couple months and not drip out of the carb and the next day there could be a puddle under it. I put a couple new kits in it, still rich. Installed new Zenith, no drips, no fouled plugs , JIM

For what it's worth, a new Zenith or Marvel-Schebler would be better than that Carter anyhow. The Carters are made of thin material and thus are prone to warping. Sometimes they cannot be rebuilt.
