I have been wanting to get me an old H or M for quite some time now, and am ready to do it. Where should I look for em' I know theres one here somewhere just waiting for someone that knows nothing about them who has too much free time to buy it and fix (or attempt to) it up.

Lanse, there is a Super C on ebay now with a day left to bid. It comes with a cultivator, side dressers and planter. It is at only 400 now. I think Jim has the right idea. The small ones can be hauled with a pick up and tag a long trailer. The Super C is a great tractor.

Lanse, Three ideas. Stay small, Cub - A - B - C or Super of that series.
Participate in 4H and connect with farmers that know someone that knows some body etc. A tractor repair is way cool for the fair. (I have a 14 yr old he is going to be polishing up his craftsman "tractor" that was reconstructed by he and I (I did some structural welding and helped arrange the electrical) for 4H fair the first week in August. One of our 4Hers is going to engineering school this fall after getting involved in mechanical devices starting with lawnmowers.
Put an ad in the local paper, and Farm paper/bullitin for a project tractor.
Good luck, I am glad you are setting your sights on a goal and going forward. Your posts are also becomming more focused and answerable. Good luck, JimN (technology professor, and 4H leader.

I have always wanted an H, since I was a little (er) kid...My friends dad has a fully restored Farmall H, a 52, and used it on his 30 acres. He dont gow anything but a garden, however I rememember playing jacks under it when I was probally 5 or so. That tractor has always seeemed so tall and powerful, and I love the sound it makes!

I have been working on small garden tractors for about a year, and am getting an old Snapper Comet 30 today...hopefully!

I've tore a few lawn mowers down before for the heck of it... thats fun!

I would never attempt a tractor this size without this forum ;) and all the books on overhauling engines and my experience I had with garden tractors.

I'd like to be an Ag. Mechanic.

thanks yall. The only problem here is that I am 14 and cannot drive to get these things. I am looking for one that has been sitting a while or has had recent use, in my area. Anyone have any ideas on where to look? I;m not paying a dealer, but want one for $200-$500, a project tractor. I have been fixing and selling garden tractors for a while here and am looking for something bigger (to keep). There arent many abandon farms here, any other ideas?
