Does anyone know of a diesel engine conversion for an M? A 4-cyl. Cummins would be cool but you'd have to watch the horsepower rating so as to not tear up the driveline.

Have an M with a 2-71 Detroit in it sitting in the shed... in need of quite a bit of work.

GM and Shepard at least made conversion kits for the M's to use their engines in.

Interested in selling it? Where are you located?

I'm just finishing up a 2-71 Detroit Diesel in a Super M. Should put out around 65hp@2100rpm and about 58hp@1800rpm. I'm a mold maker/CNC machinist by trade and I did the whole thing from scratch. You have to make a new rear cover for the engine and a crank spacer that allows you to use the stock flywheel/clutch and starter location. It turned out to be a lot of work. More than I thought but that is the way it usually goes!
