I am restoring a 1944 Farmall A and having problems wiring with the new aftermarket wiring harness. It has a green, grey, and purple wire that splits into two black wires. What components does each wire go to?

Is it true that a Farmall "C" water pump can be added to an "A?"

Thank you for your time!

Here is the link for the wiring harness on E-bay.

Is it a magneto type or a battery and distributor type. 6V or 12 V. Pos or neg ground. There is a world of difference in all these situations. The wire color doesn't mean much except to the harness manufacturer. Expand and get lots of help.

It is a magneto with a positive ground. The guy I bought it off of had the wiring all screwed up so I have never seen one wired correctly. The harness just doesn't seem to fit correctly. I got it off ebay. Here is a link to it.

The drain plugs on the water pumps for an A and C are at a different angle. Some pumps have two openigs and can be used on both. Others do not.

I have a C113 engine. They make water pumps for that?

You need the diagram in the operator's manual. I have had simlar problems with a wiring harness for a 460U. One wire goes in and does not come out. The engines in the C and A are the same, so the water pumps fit both. Water pumps on either were not standard but an option. You can compare diagrams and part numbers on www.caseih.com to confirm this.
