I'm going to rebuild the engine in my H and I was wondering if I could use stepped head piston with the head that is on the tractor now or do I have to get a head that is strictly for a gas engine?

If you have a stock dual fuel head, go ahead and use the highest compression biggest diameter pistons. Even removing .050" from the under side will not cause grief. The large chamber in that head is OK for increases in piston top volume. If in doubt, place the head and valve train with an old gasket, and put clay on the piston top of # 1 cyl; to check valve clearance, and space to the piston crown from edges. Roll the engine byhand gently one time through feeling for resistance in the motion. JimN
