I need to get a sleeve to hold the muffler onto the exhaust pipe. My manual is with the tractor 6 hours away, but i want to buy the sleeve here before I leave for the farm this evening. Anyone have an idea of the outer diameter of the exhaust pipe on an M?
Thanks in advance.

The pipe that is on it now is apparently burned and eroded away. It will be virtually impossible to find a sleeve or shim that will fill the gap and allow the muffler to fit as it should. I suppose you might be able to wrap that pipe with some flashing or maybe even aluminum foil but that repair will not be satisfactory and will have a very short life span. The only real cure is to replace that pipe. The other responders have described what you need. The only other thing I will say is that when you get ready to do that job, be prepared to spend a minimum of 1/2 day doing it, and you will need a 2" pipe tap to recut the pipe threads in the manifold.

Sorry Wardner, I looked it up (because 1/8" walls seemed thin. 2" NPT 11-1/2TPI is 2.375 nominal OD. JimN

Thanks guys. It shouldn't be a difficult finding a piece, but as i get older, finding the time to find the piece of pipe becomes the problem.

OK Jim, I stand corrected. I was too lazy to look it up or go out to the barn and measure. All e-manhunt has to know is 2" NPT. Who among us doesn't have a piece of that laying around or installed somewhere?

If your manifold is setup with pipe threads, a 2" NPT (National pipe thread) nipple will be the size. If you have a dual fuel manifold with chimney, I would assume the OD is the same. I believe that 2" NPT is about 2.25" OD. If not, exhaust bushings are available from a automotive parts house.
