I went out and looked through the spark plug hole at the piston tops today and it has stepped pistons. My question is how can I tell if they are 5000ft,8000ft, or firecraters or others. I knew it had something good in there by the way it pulls and the "crack"in the exhaust sound.

WITH THE 8000FT. PISTONS THE STEP HEAD WILL KEEP GOING way ON UP PAST THE PLUG HOLE and a stephead or fire crater will just make it to the plug hole and a 5000ft. just a wee bit past.

I assume you mean looking into the hole parallel with the piston top? or parallel with the spark plug hole?
