Hi, My Dad's 1956 Farmall 300 with live pump leaks the hydraulic oil from the metal lines that are on the transmission cover next to the battery box. When it leaks, there is oil all over the transmission cover and is a big mess. If you add hydraulic oil again, it just leaks it all out. We have used it a little with no oil in the pump, not very much though. Is it bad for the pump to run it that way? If it is, does anyone have hydraulic lines for this tractor?

Thanks,
Andy.

Andy: Like SDE implied, you'll ruin the pump with no fluid in it. Hopefully, you did not run it long enough to do it harm. mike

It has not been run long like this, my Dad did not use it much since it had that problem.

The pump is lubricated by the fluid in the reservoir. No fluid, no lubrication.

We had a 400 with the same problem. The dealer took it in and replaced the lines. He said some of the 300 and 400's had pipes that cracked and then leaked. This was 1956 that was bought new and started lesking soon after.

I think the lines are rusted through because I removed the line shield and there was lots of wet dirt, leaves and mouse junk under that shield and the lines are a little pitted.
