Hhhmmm, lets see now. His daughter-in-law is gonna get ta move da "tackers" (Something tells me that little 16 month old is being coached) I suppose she will get to pull any implements also. That leaves stuff like refrig, stove, washer/dryer, parts bins, extra wheel weights...heavy stuff...Hugh, I'm busy September 7.

Al Someone in this thread wanted to see the new house. I just posted it in vintage photos, as it is a 3 generation farm house.

I'll volenteer, I have a new 19 yr old truck that i want to test out. All Hugh has to do is pay for the gas (460 W/O overdrive) and we will be there. We will even bring the "grease feast" fixings. Be sure to post some pictures of the new place Hugh

Gary: Good lightening, a 460 W/O overdrive all the way from Missouri, and I presume back. May as well rent a Peterbuilt with a B-train.

Now that Richmond grease feast does sound a bit exciting, particularly if you round up Jimmy, Paul, The Brown Dirt Cowboy and Hal. By the way, has Hal come up for air yet? I'll have to sit down write him an e mail one of these days.

Well Hugh, Tom ( Brown Dirt Cowboy ) and I would be fighting over who drove the Pete. I moved my Daughter 3 times then thank God the Co said no more use of Co trucks for non co use. They didn"t even notice I put $50 of fuel in it once, of course now I wouldn"t even notice the gage wouldn"t move on $50 worth. I think Hal is down for the count.

Jimmy wouldn't be much of a fight, I haven't been in a Pete in so long I done forgot what all those switches and knobs are for. Hugh nice house I really like the old two-story farmhouses. Sounds like you are getting a good neighbor also. Tom

Jimmy: I don't think the Pete will be necessary. the company I shunt trucks for give us, even part timers, the equipment for one free domestic move per year. As our belongings have to come out of a house 3.5' above ground level and going into a house 1' above ground level, I chose a 16' cube truck, with one of those aluminum 16' ramps. That old piano that weighs a ton, has good casters, will come down half way on the way out and the other half on the way in.

I'm getting a neighbor in two days before with his Chevy and 32' goose neck trailer for the equipment and attachments. I've got most of that either on pallets or vegetable pallet bins. We'll load all that plus the implements with his front end loader. We have guy across the road to unload, both guys have pallet forks for their farm tractor loaders.

Driving the tractors, so should have all the bases covered. Worst part now is needing something already packed. I needed 4, 1/4"x1" bolts yesterday. I knew where they were, coffee can in the bottom of one of those 3.5'x4'x3' deep vegetable bins. Luckily I was right first time, however as days go on in the next two weeks, my memory may not be as good.

Glad to hear that Hugh has all the equipment and help he needs to move... but who's going to help me move? I have about 20 miles to the other end of town coming up once they finish building my house (hopefully by Christmas)

Keep us updated on the progress, Hugh! third party image

Brent: Huge move 7 miles due south on a gravel side road. Smaller house, heated shop, more soil to play on, more trees less exposure to wind, etc. Those are the ones that come to mind.

The tractors will be driven, thus we seem to have a request from a 35 year old daughter in law wanting to do the tractor driving. In the earlier thread (Bob M on kids tractor show) I told how I expressed to this young lady, she may have competition from a 16 month old nephew who's first word is tracker. He is here this weekend, and what everyone was hearing as tracker is now coming out clearly as tractor. Just a few minutes ago, I was bringing up photos from the YT gallery, no question he finds the red ones most exciting. While in here he also spotted my collection of 1/16 toys, however every chance he gets, it's outside to the real thing. You tell me how a 35 year old lady fights that off. I'm afraid we'll have to find room for his car seat on tractor, then he can drive alongside young lady. Heck, I cant even intice the older ladies to go for a tractor ride with me.

We should do that too. Should only have 2 bedrooms, den or living room and a kitchen. It would take a month or so to clean out the basement. Hal

Hal: Where would you ever put the computer? Got to have a den and a living room. We are going from 2,300 sq ft down to around 1,400. We looked at one around 1,000 sq ft, decided just no way. I guess space is all in the eyes of the beholder.

Al: It's all under control, daughter in law, daughter and spouces. Then of course there is me and the Mrs. The move is precisely 7 miles and we have at our disposal two trucks, three tractors and two automobiles. The one that puzzles me is my current neighbor offered himself plus family, could it be he wants me gone quickly, quietly and efficiently.

The new neighbor is into old iron, goes to auctions, buys but never sells, much like myself. The new neighbor hood has concerns that may create the largest tractor salvage yard in SW Ontario. Since we're 65 and 66 respectively, just think what a salvage gold mine dispersal auction that may create when we croak.

Yep, those two sound like they're gonna be quite a pair! Sure like to have 'em both as MY neighbors!

What got me to chuckle, though, is this talk of "old neighbor" and "new neighbor" with a move of 7 whole miles! Heck, in this neck of the woods, most of those I refer to as "neighbors" are MUCH farther than 7 miles away! Closest neighbor is at least 4 miles from my doorstep as the crow flies, close to 10 if ya go around on the road!

Hey Hugh Mackay. Let me know if you need help. I can speak "Canadian" as I have a brother who lives up there. Eh! I even have a few "Loonies" laying around here somewhere. Oh, wait. I don"t have any swampers to wear. Darn.

Hugh: That loonie seems to be disliked south of the border. Tried to pawn one off at the toll booth on the Ohio Turnpike. He would have nothing to do with it. He took Canadian nickels, dimes and quarters, but not the loonie. I got caught, bank was busy Fri afternoon, decided I'd grab some USD at the border currency exchange Sat. am, it was closed. Finnaly found a bank machine in Indiana that took my Canadian bank card and gave me USD. In the hundreds of times I've gone stateside, I'd never been so unprepared.

On the subject "Eh", that one is quite geographic, mostly Toronto, of course those guys have enough numbers they taint the pack. I never hear that down here in the south west, never used to hear it in centeral Nova Scotia. I know Cape Bretoners are quite big on Eh. But then I get a kick out of that lady at US Customs using "STAP" for the word I always spelled "STOP".

Say Eh Hugh, Hope the move goes smoothly. Up here in dah UP of Michigan we use eh in almost every sentence. It's the way we tell the natives from the transplants. A few years back Michigan had a "Say Yes To Michigan" campagne, Here in the Upper Pennisula we had the "Say Yah To Dah UP Eh" campagne. Sold lots of bumper stickers. Oh buy the way my brother just moved and his wife told him anything you havn't used in over a year has to go, he said five years, but he couldn't do it. Are you throwing anything away? Good Luck PUTTER

Putter: I best try and get Kim to delete this as unsightly. Heaven help me if my wife reads your sister in law's proclamation. I've got things I haven't used in 20 years. I've got things going to the dump, however they are absolute trash.

You have a good season in the UP, Eh.
