I am closing in on calling my project done. Got the governor all adjusted today with help from the fine men on this site. Never even got a finger in the fan.

I have a question on the spark plugs. My old buddy at the next farm over says I should use a champion plug with the number 21 instead of the number 16 that came out of it because of the modern fuel and lack of lead. I am not sure of the letter that these have before the number but they are correct in that respect.

Thanks again

I ran Autolite 386 in My B for several years and it ran fine. When I started tractor pulling, I switched to the D21 and the plugs cleaned up. If your looking for a little more power, go with the hotter plug, D21. It will run on either.
Good luck,
Charles

I recently switched to Autolite 386's from the Champ D21's and I do think it's better. Also, play with the distributor advance if you have a distributor ignition on yours. And, I'd like to recommend running a little lead additive.

Where in NY are you? We just drove through wine country this weekend/Seneca & Keuka Lake region, and I looked for a guy working on his A.

I have had much better luck with the Autolite 386 plugs than I ever did with Champions.

If you have a gas carb (distillate/kerosene has an adjustable main jet), the main jet is not adjustable and they tend to run rich, unless fully loaded. In that case you need a hot plug to burn all the fuel, D21 or equivalent in some other brand.

The number is D21.
