I've got a set of the F&H round spokes with a couple rust through spots on one rim too. Asked a friend of mine who used to manage a Goodyear store about them, he said heck yeah, he used to weld patches back in rusted spots all the time. Gonna be doing mine sometime, havent done 'em yet. Be sure to silicone an extra patch of rubber or something over your weld beads to keep 'em from rubbing through the tube.

Hey kirk. Are those demountable, or round spokes you have? We have had to splice rims some in the past on the round spokes. The trick is to not remove all of your weld if you can. Sometimes we can grind down the outside and leave some more inside for strength. We actually welded two halves of a rear b farmall wheel to make one, cutting across the wheel. Came out good.
