I went to the local tractor junkyard and they didn't have a junked H grill that I could pull the bottom off. As you can see from the pic below, I need a chunk of grill in good shape to weld on to my grill so I can add the cover and make it whole again.

The only grills they had were for an M. I'd like to ask someone with an H and an M measure out the area of both grills and tell me if there is any difference between them. I just need the area highlighted in the box please.

Mike:

If you want to pay the shipping (guessing 5-8 bucks) I have a junk grill from an H that I could cut the piece out for you. I am pretty sure it is in good enough shape for you to use. Just let me know how long of a piece you would need left to right to cover the opening you have... I will be down where I can get at it this weekend, so let me know if you want it...

If it's in better shape then the one I have, sure. The problem is expense.
The reason I am asking this M vs. H size (only for the bottom piece) question is because the junkyard has a number of really messed up M grills where the bottom is in good shape. I could get one pretty cheap to cut it up.

Mike, The H is 12 by 3 1/4 opening. The M is 12 1/4 long and 4 and 1/4 high in the opening. The bottom is piece you are missing is 1 3/4 at the edge of opening on both. The M tapers to 1 1/2 in the center. Didn't notice if the H did or not.

Mike
the cover comes off and no welding is needed. I have one on my mowing H that i could measure. I will get it tommarow morning if you don't have the answer. It covers the nose mounts used on pickers and other impliments. Check ebay for one. I know the M and the H are diffrent. the m is 30% bigger. But if you cant find one i might be able to. 90% of all h's are missing this cover. They do make after market ones but i belive you need to paint. jonnny2006

Jonnny2006, if you will notice in the picture of the grill , he is missing the bottom part . would still need repaired to hold the cover.

Mike, i don't have an M grill to measure. First, do you have the cover that goes in that area? If you do then couldn't you place it up there and measure for the peice you need.

Only problem i could see with a M grill is the center raised portion. If it is the same size then all you would have to do is trim the sides and bottom to fit and weld it in.

The M grill is larger but I wouldn,t be afraid to put that piece on an H. I am positive that with a little work it will do ok.
