According to my manual, the oil impeller on my S.C. fan has been on backwards for 20+ years. I put it back per the manual, but it got me thinking. It's bolted to the spindle which remains fixed, and the whole deal revolves around it. With a clockwise rotation (standing in front of the tractor) shouldn't the impeller be "scooping up" oil & sending it to the spindle?, or am I thinking wrong.

These seem to be real "engineering marvels" but they must be fairly bulletproof.

Thanks

Thanks a lot Jim. I'll flop it back over. It's great to have folks to bounce things off of.

The oil impeller is shown backwards in some of the IH drawings. Looks to me like the earlier drawings were wrong and the later ones were corrected. Of the drawings I have seen, the ones with the outer end of the impeller near the top are correct, the ones near the bottom are wrong. Your tractor was probably right and your manual wrong.
