You might try brazing it with an acetylene torch and a brazing rod. I've never tried it on an engine block, but brazing works on cast where there's not a lot of strength required.

we used to call that waterglass "eggkeep" it works well in water systems, looks crappy though.

Able Cast iron is not hard to weld it just takes castiron rod and a few special techniques to prep the weld area.... Any good welding shop should be able to do the repair right in place if it is accessible for grinding to get the crack ready to weld. Tallperson

Try the JB weld again, it may have been put on wrong iv had pretty good luck with that if the the crack is in the water jacket. Or you could get it welded, depends on how bad the crack and where it is located on the engine.

crack is located in water jacket front of moter
above were the generater mounts doesn't leak bad looks like it condisates more than anything. I heard it is hard to weld cast iron.

It is hard, but can be done. I good welder should have the skill to weld that up no prob. You could weld it yourself i have but i have to say that its not the nicest weld job iv done, you need to pre heat the area, use Ni rod, then you have to slow cool the area after the weld. if its just a seep then i would try the JB again. its worth a shot if its not really big. Alot cheaper and easier than having it welded. Good luck i hope i helped some

I took my engine block to the best welder around,
and he told me to put JB Weld on it. It had a 2"
by 10" piece broken out right behind the Carb where
they usually break. I first took a wire wheel to clean it up, then cleaned it real good with lacquer
thinner glued it back in with JB Weld and its still
there, JB weld is awful good stuff.
