Hello
I have done a google search and everything else, and i cant find what the ground speeds would be at rated rpm with 15.5x38 tires. We have this 51' M we use on the farm and it has the M&W 9 speed but i have never used it. Just wondering what ground speeds actually are with it
thanks
Shawn

Shawn, I have some manuals for setting up for ag sprayers. I haven't looked it up but there are formulas for figuring mph. I know some of the procedures are marking a rear tire and counting the revolutions in a predetermined length and recording the time it took to travel that length. There are websites that have that information such as your local extension service.

Guess things are relative. After market stuff on cars, trucks, and tractors were useful and fun in the "old days". Back on the farm in the late 50"s and early 60"s the 9-Speed seemed to be really useful. We used it nearly every time we used the tractor or several times a day during working seasons. Of course you have to stop to put it in and out of "9-Speed" Once in you can start in second and easily shift up to get into fifth if you were going to the field, pulling loaded trailers, moving implements, etc. With the M souped up to around 50hp we pulled a 10" IH wheel disc in fourth for years. In high low you could harrow or a few light things. The speeds generally split the successive difference between fourth and fifth, i.e. high-low is faster than fourth and so on through fourth. It doesn"t change the speed of fifth.

Well, Just plant your b--- in the seat, and have someone pace you in something that has a decent speedometer. LE

Yeah, I guess I could just hook up my spray monitor with the gps and just go drive around the yard. But i thought maybe somebody had a flier with the advertised ground speeds on it, that would be close enough.
The thing about farmall's is, what kind of tractor would they have been if M&W wasnt around to make them usable?
This tractor is mostly Aftermarket wide front
power steering
live hyd
9 speed
pistons
governor
3 point
now just if it had an air ride seat instead of that big spring

The 4 additional speeds aren't good for much of anything if you don't have a hay operation, as they are all faster than 4th. You usually can't do much tillage (provided you have the implements sized to the tractor) in any gear above 3rd. I would still like to have one though. Someone on this forum knows those speeds.
