In amongst other issues I am trying to work out with this tractor. I was attempting to start it today and got a splash of gas out of the air intake. Does anyone what this is a result of? I am thinking firing order or timing? Any ideas?

Ok so seriously flooded, this is not the first time I have had a flooding issue, when I last changed the oil (due to the old carb) about 15 liters (14 quarts) poured out and it reeked of gas. I changed it at the right quantity 6 quarts, but have not checked it again since I replaced the carb. Something I figured I should do it again though. I did not change the oil in the air filter housing though. I do not have a cutoff for my fuel supply on either the gas or the diesel. My question would be since I do not have the oem part could I use something similar to a motorbike or a generator in regards to a fuel cutoff?

Absolutely There are nice fittings with 5/16" OD flair, or compression at good hardware stores (even home depot) with a 1/4 turn valve. Very much needed. If you have no sediment bowl, there is good reason to put a gravity style fuel filter in the line as well. It cannot be one of those regular inline filters, it needs to be specific for gravity feed which is at much lower pressure and will not flow through a regular filter well at all. If junk from the tank gets into the needle and seat, it will prop it open and flood the tractor every time. Good luck, JimN

Thanks Jim,

The fuel filter I have on it is for a Briggs and Stratton engine. It is the clear type it seems to flow pretty well just a plastic housing with a paper filter in it. Any good?

Well even your wind power blowing on it will be more than the pressure of the fuel in the tank. The flow needs to be about as much as will flow through a 3/16 in soda straw. The best is a filter from NAPA that is specifically for gravity. The valve will stop the flooding when parked, and prevent wear of cylinders due to washed off oil when starting. Did you get the starting issue resolved? I posted some Info to that thread if you did not. JimN

It means it is flooded very seriously.
Rule 1 always shut off the fuel at the tank when not running it, even 10 minutes.
Rule 2 See rule 1
If you take off the air intake hose an dry things out, things will be better. If there is fuel in the oilbath aircleaner, the whole thing needs to be serviced.
If it floods anf fuel runs out the carb intake when the fuel valve is opened, the needle and seat in the carb's float bowl are stuck open, or have junk under them.
Make sure the plug firing order is correct 1342, and (usually starts top right and goes clockwise around the cap) Keep us informed JimN
