 My old Grandad, who is very squared away with his stuff and takes good care of all his equipment, believe it or not says, "If there's oil in it, it's good". I know when we woke up the M this summer for some baling my Uncle opened up the top plug, nothing, bottom plug, nothing. He tried to look surprised. Added 3 or for quarts, out to the field, never misses a beat. Amazes me with all you hear about importance of changing oil these days. Todays tolerances obviously make a big difference. He bought that M 30 years ago, got it for nothing when he bought a SH from a guy and he said take it if you can move it. Got it home, new points, and nothing since, and got used pretty good for probably 10 or 15 years. I have a feeling the oil's never been changed. With the little bit they use, and more that leaks out, just keep adding seems to work. Like I said, surprised the heck out of me when he told me that. He worked in the IH shop for 10 years too. Never knew that until a few weeks ago. Pretty humble guy, but getting older now so he'll brag some how he and his partner could O/H an M motor in under 2 hours. I get smart and tell him that's cause you had so many to O/H from not changing the oil! I'll be keeping my oil clean, and I've even put some Lucas Oil in her cuz I love her so. She runs so smooth all you can hear is air coming off the fan! :) Bri
