I'm wanting a farmall. Which has more hp? That is the difference between a regular or "super" model? Thanks Brandon

Whatcha gonna do with it? The M and Super M tractors are real macho guys, and you feel great sitting up there guiding this big ship. But....they are NOT very convenient for work requiring a lot of maneuvering in close quarters, due to their mass and to the heavy steering effort at slow speeds. If you're looking for a light chore tractor--hauling wood for the fireplace, a little trimming with a small bush-hog type mower, tilling on a small farm, the H is a lot easier to maneuver.
The Super H has some advantages--it's the same size as an H, but has nearly the power of the original M (probably without as much torque, however, since the motor is a lot smaller). It has disc brakes, live hydraulics, and a fourth gear that is quite a bit faster--good for light hauling without racing the motor (the H gave less than 6 mph at about 1800 rpm--it always felt like it was roaring away, and a pulling a loaded wagon a mile always seemed pretty slow--there isn't enough torque to pull a loaded wagon in fifth gear with the throttle way back to give you six or 7 mph, which is a good speed on country roads when you're pulling a load of hay or grain). All these tractors--H, M, Super H, Super M--are MUCH more comfortable than the F-series tractors they replaced. But--if you're not into buying these for nostalgic reasons, and you want something really useful and easy to
get on and off of, buy something more in the "utility line"--so many tractors in use now resemble the original Ford 9N. I bought one of those some years ago, and was amazed at how easy it was to get on and off of, to maneuver, etc.
3-point hitch is wonderful, too, especially if you are going to be changing attached implements very often. Eventually, most of the manufacturers went to tractors that resembled the Ford--even for cultivating. I don't know the red ones of this type well enough to advise on a model, but someone else who answers will certainly have some good ideas.
But--there is nothing more beautiful than an H or M--that's my final word in a wordy answer!

between the H & M the M has more power. The M is a larger frame tractor and just bigger overall, period. The H is more or less a shrunken version.

Stepping up to the Super series the same thing. Both tractors went to disc brakes and live hydraulics were an option. Engine CID and HP for both were increased.

M has a C248 engine, Super M has a C264 and a SMTA / 400 / 450 uses a C281. Rebuild kits are available to make 248 into a 264 and a 264 into a 281. GO along the same lines for H engines but subtract about 100 CID

LPTO and TA were not available on a Super H or Super M, They became available with the introduction of the Super MTA in 1954. There was never a Super HTA (though some have made them). A TA and LPTO became available in an H sized tractor in 1955 with the introduction of the Farmall 300.

Not to quibble, but the SMTA and 400 came with C-264 engines in them.

The M has more power. The M I believe has a C-248 engine, and the H has a C-152 engine. The Super series tractors are not much different, except they have more power and the Super tractors had more features, like disc brakes and torque amplifiers (Super M only), some have live hydraulics and live PTO.

As per my NEB. test list. H=26HP, Super H 33HP, M 36HP and the Super M46HP. Super H and super M will have live hyds if I remember right and be made later then the H or M. I.E. first came the H and the M then they where replaced by the Super H and super M
