HI Guys,
I'm back to ask another question about my newly acquired Farmall HV. I know that there were 863 total HV's built, but I wanted to know if anybody knows how many were built with the all fuel engine?? Is the carb different on this tractor too? If so, does anybody know where I can find a farmall H allfuel carb?
Thanks
John Deere Jeff

Well, I guess my HV is a distillate tractor? I guess, since it has a small fuel tank on the right side of the tractor when sitting on it. Still not sure, but I guess it's not a straight gas tractor since it has 2 tanks. How can I get in contact with the IH archives? As for the carb, it is a zenith carb and I would like to get a marvel-schebler for it.

When you have the prefix of X3 behind the serial No.it will be an Kerosene-engine with a slightly lower compression-ratio.With most Hi-Crops code D is added witch means "high speed gear".

The number of teeth on fourth gear is with this examples a bit higher.Gear 62398DA 34 teeth (7mph)
and standard sector is 56530DA 29 teeth. In transmission to countershaft.
(Farmall M)

Prise direkt has no effect on this setting of the 5th of course.

A message to IH archives bring's not so much information.I already did that and didn't ad to much info. The genuine pictures of Hi-crops like the MV are great anyway.

The carb is not original, as IH made their own carbs for the H and M. The engine could be kerosene or distillate, as Guy Fay said the engines were different. It does not matter as you are going to run it on gas. Call Mike at Steel Wheel Ranch -- he should have a good used carb 785-548-7437. I do not know if he rebuilds them -- you can get a kit from him or from Case-IH if it needs it. Much cheaper and just as good as a new one. Use the IH carb, not the one on it or the MS carb you want.

If your carb has a hand operated drain cock it is a distillate/kerosene carb. If it has a plug it is gas -- at least that is the way it came from the factory, the drain cocks are interchangeable. I really doubt if you can find an original carb. I think the only repair kits are for the gas ones, and also fit the kero/dist carbs.

None. IH built either kerosene or distillate engines, which had different compresion ratios not "allfuels", which was a Deere term.

You'd have to send in a request to the IH Archives to get some numbers. Kerosene would have actually been the standard for many years of production.
