You need to count the number of battery cells in the old battery. Three for 6 volts and 6 for 12 volts. Hal

Just measure your batt box to make sure you get one that fits.

Brad - The '54 Super H takes a group 1 six volt battery.

(No clue what a '64 Super H might use since the model does not yet exist...!)

Thanks for the quick respone. My Dad always referred to the tractor as a 1964 super H. In any case, do I need to worry about 6 or 12 volt batteries. Will either type work in a tractor of this vintage (1964)?

yes, 6 or 12 volt does matter. Your H was originally a 6 volt so a 12-volt will do damage to your ignition system unless you have converted the tractor to handle 12 volt. p.s. the 6 volt was positive ground also.

I think 1964 was when the Super HTA was introduced.

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Don't you read the business pages i your paper?!?!?!?

The Super HTA is STILL on the drawing boards and scheduled for introduction in 2064, which is consistent with rumors on Wall Street that the board of CaseIHNewHollandFord has opened discussions which would spin off the IH and Farmall brands to a group of private investors, and hopes to conclude terms in time to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our republic. The SHTA is being held back in hopes of sweetening the deal for CHIHNHF investors.
