I was looking around for new or blem 13.6's for the below mentioned Super M, but I've run across a really good deal on some 12.4's that are already mounted on rims. They have about 80% tread in a 23 degree design with just slight weathering. I can carry the pair home for considerably less than what it would cost for tires alone, even blems. This will be a working tractor and am wondering if yall think I will lose too much traction for plowing or discing or if it will make much difference for compaction. Measuring some old 12.4's and 13.6's I have shows 1" narrower tread with the 12.4's.

In general, has anyone found good deals lately on rear tires with a particular brand or size? I've heard some of the larger sizes can be cheaper than 13.6's.

Either one will work fine. I have one M with 12.4 and one with 13.6. The 12.4 looks more original but the 13.6 looks more powerful.

The 12.4's will not be as tall and give you more power, I'd go with them. You will get a little more compaction, but an M is not heavy enough to cause deep problems with compaciton unless you are in some real hardpan sensitive soil. Plus you wind up with two spare rims. It is always nice to have a spare rear tire around if you are working a tractor.

I replaced the 13.6 with the 12.4 on my M. Never had a problem. The M had a loader(F10 Farmhand)on it.

I replaced some worn out 13.6's with 15.5 and found out they were quite a bit less expensive. Several tire dealers told me the same thing.
