I am in the process of getting my Super A back into 100% running shape. The current radiator has some leakage and I want to get it replaced. However, most of the places I see that sell radiators only carry the part number of (356 356 R94) which is for S/N's 356001 and above. My S/N is 335748 and according to the parts catalog I have it states the radiator part numbers are (358 104 R93 or 358 437 R92 or 359 644 R91). Can someone out there tell me if they have run across this and what was the outcome? I have one found one vendor that shows the part numbers for mine but they want almost twice the amount for the radiator verses the newer part number.

Thanks.

I got mine from OEM Tractor Parts last year for my 1948 SA. Mine doesnt have a water pump and isnt pressurized.

When I got it in the first one I guess was for a pressurized tractor and wouldnt fit. I called them and gave them my serial number and they then sent the correct one. Plus it was cheeper and so that gave me an excuse to buy even more stuff. It fit perfect.

What I would do is have your info ready and call OEM and tell them exerything where they get you the right one.

Tracy: I can't comment on the precise part numbers, however I do have some info based on serial numbers. First all tractors over 356001 were Super A1 and the radiator is 2" higher than your radiator, therefor it will not physically fit under your hood.

At serial number 336711 Super A radiators became presurized, thus radiators before and after that number are different. You can switch from presurized to non presurized and vice versa, however your tractor will not be original.

Finally, if I were you, I'd go the recore route, you will get a better product for the money. It will probably cost more than a new rad, however the product will be superion product. Some, maybe most new tractor radiators are coming from Asia, and a lot of those don't fit the sheet metal.

One item you have to watch with all replacment radiators, be they new or recore, the core is different for thermosyphon than water pump appliction.

Thanks for the info Hugh. It was helpful. Do you know of any good place that do the recore. We live in rual Louisiana and I don't know of anyone around here that would do that kind of work or I would trust working on something for my tractor.

Thanks.

Tracy: Unless you have a local radiator shop doing recores, I wouldn't touch it unless he's doing a lot of tractor radiators. Sorry, I hadn't thought about the possibility of you not being close to a rad shop. Your best solution is O.E.M. and a new rad. Make them fully aware of your serial number, and if your using water pump or thermosyphon.
