We used air pressure to free a 330u. We removed the rockerarms then appled 125# on 1,4 prybar on ringgear. It had soaked with baster for 2mo. Then moved the air to 2,3. We put the rockers back on and starter, added new gas fired it up.

The problem is that you don't know why its stuck. we all assume that it's pistons, but it could well be several other things. For instance I had an Allis B engine stuck and we towed it gently to try to loosen it and it was only a valve stuck closed.(Bent the push rod).If it won't free easily with a GENTLE pull then maybe you lose nothing by stripping it. I got my hands on an A that had sat for 9 years. I was helped by an old farm fiend of mine. I pulled the spark plugs and filled them with PB blaster and let it soak for a week, at that time my old friend asked what I had put in there and he advised we add some wild turkey. He brought down half of a quart, we put a couple shots in each cylinder then split the rest. Had a good night in the shop and then the following afternoon it broke free,,, It's a miracle.

Those old guys do know a thing or two.

I just spent 20hrs removing the pistons from an M . I took a spark plug and broke out the porcelan , with the spark plug now hollow I welded a grease Zerk on the end . I then screwed the plug into a cylinder which was at the top of it's stroke . I loosened all the rockers to close the valves . I then pumped the cylinder full of grease until the motor broke free . I then removed the cylinder head only to find that it was still STUCK . I then had to drill 3/8 holes around the perimeter of the #4 piston and beat it out thru the bottom with a maul . This was all after I soaked the motor with PB blaster for three weeks . At the end I discoverd the # 4 cylinder had a cracked block . I have unstuck many engines in my life and have never seen one this bad . I would suggest you start with a large coffe and a box of donuts .It makes it more fun..... LD

They will sometimes get stuck after sitting for a while. Unless you know the engine is bad, or just want to overhaul it, try pulling the spark plugs and squirting a lot of automatic transmission fluid in each cylinder. Then put it in 4th gear and rock it gently (using the back tires) every day for a month, or until it frees. If it does not free up in a reasonable amount of time (to you) then tear it down. But, you may find that it frees up in a week and starts and runs good.

Since you are goimg to replace the seals save the money on anything to loosen the pistons. Remove the engine from the tractor and put it on a engine stand. You will be able to remove the crank and have it checked as it mite need to be ground. Then you can remove the sleeves with the pistons in the sleeves. You then should be able to press the pistons out the bottom of the sleeves. I just finished tearing one down that way and will push the pistons out the bottom. Good luck you have some work to do.

Not an expert by any means but I have my doubts about removing the sleeves with the pistons in. At least in my case a sleeve puller was necessary and a big diesel designed puller at that. The sleeves would not come out by pushing or pounding them from the bottom and I even used a bottle jack against steel bolted to the base of the engine. A very large puller was necessary and with the pistons in you can't use a puller.

I did it on an A back in 1975. I don't think this tractor was sheltered since it rolled off the assembly line. I used ATF and piece of 2X2 oak and hammer and drove them out. Hal
PS: Had to replace the tires, rims, fenders, steering wheel, wiring and with new sleeves and pistons it ran like new.

the way i do em, pull the oil pan drain plug, drain everything out. put plug back in. remove spark plugs, fill the cylinders with pb blaster, (buy the gallon jug.) then pour the rest down the oil fill hole. let the tractor set for a week. end of the week, put trans inn high gear and rock the tractor back and forth, see if it loosens up. if not do again. other guys here like to use automatic trans fluid, it works for them. w-d 40 is not a good penetrant.
