I just bought a IH 484 and engaged the differential, it worked. However, I cannot disengage it (the pedal stays depressed). The spring is there & in place. Any thoughts?

Look underneath..the pedal activates a small piston like rod which is sticking and not moving freely out of the housing. Spray it with penetrating oil or some kind of good oil lubricant. Move the tractor ahead slowly and stomp your left brake pedal, then your right..this sometimes lets the differential lock release. Soak the oil to it, then just work the diff lock pedal with your hand , up and down..multiple times until the oil is worked into the seam around the piston collar.
