Any idea why the 400 doesn't have a fuel guage? Do they have an option to get one? I read the book but haven't seen anything about it.

don't know why, but it is a good question. probably because simple=reliable.

also there were 2 different fuel tank sizes, the standard one was smaller than an M, so it was easy to assume they were fuel drinkers. the larger tank was about the same capacity as an M. after you use it a few times, you won't need a gauge as you'll become one with the 400

Think I will go with the stick! I can't remember how my grampa did it on his C... but probably the same way...

Our 400 had a fuel guage, but then again it was LP.

Yes there is an optional fuel gauge. It is made into a gas cap with gauge on top and a float that sticks down in tank. Someone is reproducing them at about 225.00 bucks. Used originals are on ebay often, and even NOS from time to time. Get ready to pay a big price for one. I use a stick on mine.

There was a optional fuel gauge that was built into the tall style fuel cap. It is very hard to find them now, but OEM sells them new for $225.00.
