Just wanted to say thanks for the help on my Super A.
Also found a screen in the elbow going into the carb that was full of rust and dirt. Cleaned it out and also installed an inline fuel filter from a car.
Thanks again and Happy New Year.

I use inline car filter on A for many years. I have cub that will not run with any inline filter. Harley guys say use diesel to clean tank. I never tried but it sounds reasonable.

I use the FRAM see thru filters and rubber hose from the sediment bulb for cruddy tanks they are cheap and easy to change. The fine screen on the sediment bulb doesent get all the real fine stuff but the FRAMS catch the rest. Been using them for yrs without any problems on the A and B tractors.

Go to your local lawn tractor repair and sales store and ask for an inline fuel filter for a motor that has no fuel pump. They will/should ask you how many horse power the motor is, you tell them and they should fix you up. Have done this for Cub Lo-Boy 154 and an F-12 with good results. In the end you'll want to take your tank and get it cleaned up inside and lined so you won't need an in-line filter. The little buggers are expensive and if its a crusty tank that is the problem the filters will have a short useful life span.

Installing that in line filter will cause you more trouble then its worth. Those filters are made to be used on systems with a fuel pump and a tractor doesn't have a fuel pump. I.E. those filters are made to have 7-15 psi pushing fuel threw them and your gravity flow fuel system will not even have 1 psi pushing the fuel. Take it out or you will have problem. My fee to fix an in line filter problem is a case of beer and I have fix many tractors that some one installed and in line filter on because the filter do work for a little while but then cause BIG BIG problems fast

I'm very pleased with all the tractors I have inline filters installed on. It is a funny thing that different folks truly have different experiences with the same things. It reminds me we have to have consideration for the experiences of others.

Have a prosperous New Year.

You may not be happy with that in-line filter.
