I finally bought a 1468, after wanting one for 30 years, I bought tractor which was in excellent condition, for 14,000, 2 years ago, I had it painted, as original paint was starting to fade, also had chrome shields made for engine, and mufflers, and added duals. I installed new interior, and it is as close to new as possible. I have 21, in it now, and love it

Sorry I did not answer the question. I would say if it is indeed rough on the outside I would try to get it on a dyno test to check the engine and drive it to test all other functions. I would offer 8500- 10,000 if those things are good. If has engine clutch or TA problems probably 4500-6500 or you will be into it too deep. Migraine

I have a 1973 model 1468 that I bought about 3 years ago. It is the most original tractor I have ever bought, Came from a 80 year old fescue grower in Oregon. Has original cab with its own serial numbers, dual hubs and tires, all lights that work, air and heat that both work great, runs awesome and turned 148 horse on the dyno and the pump still has the seal wire on it. I have 2 very minor items that will be changed back to original. I bought this tractor very reasonable and would not sell it today for less than 20,000. I believe these will be a good collector item in years to come and most others that I have seen for sale or trade need so much work, engine parts are hard to come by and quite expensive. I realize that in some parts of the country they don't hold much appeal and probably would not be a good winter chore tractor but I sure enjoy driving mine and hope to do some disking with it in the spring as I believe that tractors need to be worked hard to keep in shape, just like me! I could buy a rough one with white cab and duals for 10000$. That was overpriced. Was for sale for over a year. Was running but very hard to start. This was 3 years ago. Today I would buy for that price because the us dollar is very cheap.(have euro`s) Also looked at a tracor 3 years ago with broken engine and a spare good (?)engine to go with it. For only 4000$. Could not find anybody to transport it in not running condition. If I could turn back time....

A well running complete tractor will sell for $8,000-$10,000. Quite a few out there asking for more and not getting it. It is one of the few IHC's that rival the novelty of the two cylinder deers. Deere hung with two cylinders way to long and almost went under because of it. It is a truly amazing thing that they survived to remain as strong as they are. The two eight cylinder IHC's have that same class of novelty. They will sky rocket in value even more than recently and be out of reach for all but very deep pockets. One of the biggest sleepers out there I think.

Back when they were out more they sold for about the same as a 1466 or 1486 the difference was they ran on all 8 cylinders pulling and on 4 when idling or something like that so they sounded funny and where not liked to much around here. They would pull with a 1466 in the field I guess only saw a couple of them back in the 80's

Rare? No, but IH only made 2905 of them.

Price? I haven't seen one sold locally, so I don't have an answer for that.
