take a muffler clamp u bolt slide it into the sleeve from top and weld it right to the sleeve but dont burn through using a new rod which is nice and long run up and down the inside of the sleeve to make heat you dont really have to run a bead of weld using a pipe drive the sleeve out from bottom using a hammer they pop right out

if you dont have a sleeve puller, take the block to a machine shop and they can pull them for you. here are a couple of my sleeve pullers, one store bought, two home made

You will need a sleeve puller and get a manual they will tell you the procedure. The I@T is a good one cause if you dont know how to pull sleeves there will be other things you need to know and that manual gives all the specs and how to do everything.

Dude, learn to use to archives here. That question has been asked and answered hundreds of times, and all the answers are at your fingertips. I learned more from there than anywhere.

Good Luck,

They are dry sleeves. A sleeve puller is the best. Most other methods have a strong chance of damaging the cylinder walls. The welding method does have merit, but only if you are experienced with the welder.

if youre not going to reuse them, and have a welder, runs a bead on each side, just enough to get it hot not enough to weld it to the block, after it cools they usually slide right out for me.

You can use a hydraulic jack a flat steel plate to get them started.. If you can get them up a half to three quarters of an inch, they will usually come on out with out a great deal of difficulty. I had a machine shop to make me a plate that fits snug on the inside of the sleeve and is 5000 shy of the same diameter of the outside of the sleeve.. You can push the sleeves on up into the block if it doesn't loosen up by the time the sleeve gets flush with the bottom of the block.

Good luck on getting them out.

The sleeves are dry and a snug press fit. Are the pistons stuck in them?

They are wet sleeves.

To get them out you will need a sleeve pulling kit and pull them from bottom up. The bottom of the sleeve puller has a built in flange to catch the sleeve without doing damage to the sleeve. Of course the pistons need to be removed for the puller to be used.

You might want to use some PB Blaster or any other rust type solvent -- kerosene works too to loosen the rust...tap with a wooden block on top of the sleeve after lubcating to get the rust to break loose (it might be good to even soak for a couple days before trying to remove them)
Lots of Luck! Go slo and easy!

Hey, the sleeves on the H and Super H are dry ones (according to my I&T Shop manual).
Normally they are removed by using a special puller (IH puller SE 1213). But you can easily reproduce one of these. With a couple of round plates and a threaded rod.
You can also try and knock em out from the bottom up with a hammer, but I don't recommend this. Because you can damage the sleeve excessively wich makes it even harder to get it out.

Kind regards
