Walmart has a cheap 30wt non-detergent motor oil (says on the bottle not to use in modern engines) that I use in my H's hydraulics. I've been told that it matters to use the non-detergent because it doesn't have a problem with foam and that 30wt will develop better pressure in the old system than the lighter hydraulic oil.
Good luck, Wm

The belly pump reservoir holds approximately 6 quarts of 30w oil. I use 90w in my tranny. It takes a lot of it too, about 6 gallons.

Make that 7 gallons - per the book.

That is 30W motor oil. You can use hydraulic fluid (Hytran or equivalent), but it is more likely to leak if the seals are weak.
