I saw the good advice you were getting on your paint mix the other night.

You didn't say what the tractor or the year was, but the color will vary.

I used Concept on my '47 BN (special project, more expensive paint than I would use otherwise).

Their formula to match 2150 kept coming up almost(not quite) Allis orange. It was large and nearly equal parts (in the range of 1200 1500) of violet and orange (NOT the organic orange I mention below), with a touch (like 10-15) of black.

Finally took a piece up for them to scan.

I was very happy with what the scanner came up with.

The formula for one quart came out to (prefix DMC on all pigments):

932 Red 408.8
987 Organic Orange 397.1
931 Violet 279.4
902 Black 9.1
900 Str White 5.3

In answer to your post, someone said the pigments were the same regardless of the PPG base, but someone cautioned me to the contrary when I was here looking for guidance, so take that question up with you PPG folks, PLEASE. It may be that it won't work for the paint you want to use. I'll be dealing with the same issue when I go to get less costly paint for my SuperC and the coveted 100 spreader.

What I can say is that under the fluorescents in the garage when it's dark outside, it sometimes looks a little heavy on the violet to me, but could I swear to it? No. It looks red and not at all orange out in the light of day, and I'm quite pleased.

If your tractor's from the same era of IH 50, and you can swing the cost, ask them to mix up a half pint for you and see what you think.
