I have an M with the long shock absorber on the seat. It looks like the seat bushings are worn out. I took the two cap screws out but have not tried very hard to get the pin out. Looks like it may be a bit difficult. Can I find parts? Do I need a press for remove and replace?

I found a large box full of shock grommets and bushings, assorted parts at my local body shop and alignment shop. They gave me a pail full. I put a couple on a proper size rod and chucked them in the press, filed and sanded them to proper contour. Voila, 'new bushings, shiny and no cracks' for free. You don't need to worry about the sleeve, bolt, pin condition as the shock really pivots and rides on the rubber. Soak them in PS fluid before install.

I ain't ever got any for 75 cents. OEM has them for about 20 bucks. This includes both bushings and a new pin.

Or you can try Marshall's tractor parts at 1-888-824-0544.

Replaced the very same thing on my C. Getting the pin can be a little challenging if the M is like the C and the new ones might take another extra hand to help compress the new bushings in. You may find a washer type spacer or two in there as well. Any Case/IH dealer should have them and they cost around .75 each round here.

Parts are available from Case-IH and OEM Tractor Parts, and many others. I think you can just pound the pin out. If you have a press it will probably be easier. Probably held in by what remains of the grommets.
