300 Utility Hydraulic Pump Surging

I've noticed recently that my hydraulic pump kind of surges and slows down the engine. This is happening now pretty close to every second now. The pump is for the three point and a one way hose coupler.

I did find the resevoir low on oil and brought it back up but it's still doing it. I also had some leakage at the pump and found some bolts loose, so tightened them back up.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to check or how to fix the problem?

no filter but pluged screen will make it do that

sometimes just tapping the spring loaded handles of the control valves in both directions will center a slightly sticking valve to correct the surge.

If memory serves me correct, mine does not have any filters, but two screens. (1) in the reservoir, and (2) In the flow control valve as part of the safety valve. My 300u has power steering, don't know if that makes any difference or not.

No I didn't. I wasn't aware there was a filter, I knew there was a screen in the oil resevoir.

Where is the hydraulic filter located?
